Brenda Schuman-Post

Brenda Schuman-Post is a professional oboe soloist, chamber musician and music educator who has been playing 20-30 concerts per year for seniors in every state of health, including seniors with with dementia, since 2009. She also leads 'sharing of information' discussions, about how aging can affect the careers of musicians. Her ensemble, Sonic Forest, is so named because musical instruments are made from trees. Concert programming is always 'music inspired by nature. Brenda is the first musician ever to visit East Africa to learn about the threatened tree from which woodwind instruments are made. She lectures on 'Sustainable African Blackwood'. With an exhibit of non-Western oboes, she also lectures on "Oboes of the World'.
