Short Biography:
Dr. Kuan-Hua Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Science at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He earned his B.Ed. in Special Education in Taiwan, followed by a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa, and completed his postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley. His research spans various topics related to social connectedness, emotion, and mental health, with a focus on brain-to-brain and body-to-body synchrony in close relationships during social interactions. Dr. Chen's current work on social connectedness and mental health in older adults is funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). He received a Young Investigator Award from Alzheimer's Association. He is a Faculty Scholar with the NIA IMPACT Collaboratory. He is interested in understanding how music connects persons with dementia to their caregivers and families.
